Robert L. Smith holds a PhD in mathematical logic from Stanford University. As senior vice president of Computer Curriculum Corporation, he led the company’s product development through its principal years of growth, creating the underlying algorithms for instructional optimization as well as the tools for efficient content formulation and for maintenance and design of the management system. At Stanford, Smith was the manager for a large National Science Foundation project involving computers and artificial intelligence in education. He taught computer science at Rutgers University and spearheaded that university’s deployment of new computer systems for education and research. As Empirical Education’s CTO and Vice President of Engineering, Smith oversees the company’s entire data warehousing and software development division, and developed the company’s strict data security policy.
